What a world of contrasts this is and Gucci knows it well: humanoids against aliens, robots, the tyrannosaurus rex and the creature from the Black Lagoon all set in psychedelic landscapes, fields of grass populated by cows versus retro-futuristic environments and wild settings. For the Fall/Winter 2017/2018 collection Alessandro Michele was inspired by the sci-fi genre of the 1950’s and 1960’s, paying homage to one of his favourite TV programmes, the iconic Star Trek.
Directly from the outer space, the collection is one of contradictions, contrasts and ambivalences where the impossible is indeed possible and the eyewear is not a plain accessory anymore. It is the essential part of this crazy, surreal world.
Part of the collection is dedicated to oversize or better say extreme sunglasses decorated with beautiful rhinestones.
Shapes with artistic silhouettes such as the eclectic and futuristic Gucci GG0240S.
GUCCI GG0240S
or the Gucci GG0144S, as seen on the brand’s previews till now.
GUCCI GG0144S
Of course, one is free to be part of that surreal world or see the world with one’s own eyes. The Gucci GG0227S and Gucci GG0228S are both retro and embellished with glitter enamel around the lenses to create a frame effect while keeping the construction rimless and light.
Then one theme that Gucci has been faithful ever since its origins. The web! Beautifully proposed on the acetate Gucci GG0226S and the metal version Gucci GG0225S.
The whole collection is one that looks towards the future, without forgetting the past. Actually, it is in a constant limbo between past and future which is not, or better say it is not any more, in the present time.
What style are you into: street? bon-ton? vintage? baroque? You choose, the Gucci catwalk has them all, only on Otticanet!
